Referral disclosure: rows tagged Ad use a sponsored referral link, and we may earn a commission. A row appears only while the firm has a current register entry and no recorded active operations restriction. EEA reach counts the home state plus the host states listed in the ESMA file, out of 30. Affiliate status does not affect inclusion or order.

The table joins each brand to its legal entity in the ESMA snapshot dated 6 October 2026. Bybit EU comes first because MEXC recommended it to its Dutch users. The services column shows which of the ten MiCA services (a to j) the entry covers. The count does not score product quality or the number of tokens listed.

Why EU users look for alternatives

No MEXC entity appears in the ESMA CASP snapshot dated 6 October 2026. On 24 September 2025 the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) warned that MEXC did not have a licence and offered crypto-asset services in the Netherlands illegally. The AFM said that MEXC actively targeted Dutch consumers. ESMA’s register of non-compliant entities records the AFM decision of 16 September 2025 as a breach of Article 59 of MiCA.

The MEXC terms of use, last updated on 13 October 2026, name MEXC (Comoros) Ltd as the contracting company. The prohibited list in those terms names no EU state. Website access from an EU country is not an authorisation. Article 59 requires a MiCA authorisation before a firm provides crypto-asset services in the EU.

The full record, with sources and status history, is on our MEXC page.

ESMA said on 23 June 2026 that clients of unauthorised CASPs do not benefit from MiCA safeguards, including protections for client assets. It invited them to move their crypto-assets to an authorised CASP or to a self-hosted wallet.

What to check before switching

  • The contracting entity. Open the terms of use and find the company that serves you. Our guide on how to check a MiCA licence shows each step.
  • Token coverage. A licensed venue may not list every token that you hold on MEXC, so check each asset before you send it.
  • The services you need. Custody is service a, exchange for euros is c, exchange between crypto-assets is d and transfers are j.
  • Your country. The entity must be authorised in your state or have notified it as a host state under Article 65. The EEA reach column counts those states.
  • Live status. Confirm the entry in the ESMA register on the day you move funds.

How to move funds safely

  1. Open and verify the new account first. Complete the identity checks (KYC) before you start a withdrawal from MEXC.
  2. Sell or move tokens that the new venue does not list. A wallet that you control can hold them. Check that the wallet supports the token and its network.
  3. Match the network on both sides. The withdrawal network on MEXC must be one that the destination supports for that token. Add a memo or tag where the destination asks for one.
  4. Send a small test transfer. Wait until it arrives and shows in the destination balance, then send the rest.
  5. Expect transfer checks. EU exchanges must collect sender and recipient information for crypto transfers under Regulation (EU) 2023/1113. A deposit from a platform outside the EU can take longer while the receiving exchange completes those checks.
  6. Export your history. Download trade, deposit and withdrawal records while you still have full access.

Common questions

Is MEXC licensed under MiCA?

No. No MEXC entity appears in the ESMA CASP snapshot dated 6 October 2026. The Dutch AFM warned on 24 September 2025 that MEXC offered crypto-asset services in the Netherlands without a licence. ESMA lists the AFM decision in its register of non-compliant entities.

Which company runs MEXC for EU users?

The MEXC terms of use, last updated on 13 October 2026, name MEXC (Comoros) Ltd, a company registered in the Union of Comoros. A company outside the EEA has no MiCA passport. Article 59 requires an authorisation before a firm provides crypto-asset services in the EU.

What should Dutch MEXC users do?

MEXC asked Dutch users to move their assets by 31 October 2026 and set 16 November 2026 as the final offboarding date. It recommended Bybit EU. Accounts and assets do not move across automatically. You need to open a new account, pass its checks and send your own assets.

Can I keep my coins on MEXC?

MiCA regulates the provider, not the account holder. Assets on an unlicensed platform do not have the custody and safeguarding protections of Articles 70 and 75 of MiCA. For those protections, or for full control, withdraw to a licensed venue or to a wallet you control.
