The grid is ordered by home state, then name. “Services” counts how many of the ten MiCA crypto-asset services the register entry covers (letters explained below). These are the 365 entries without an end date on or before the snapshot date. The full snapshot is also available as a CSV download.

Link policy: website buttons use the website supplied in ESMA’s data where an HTTPS address is available. HTTP and malformed addresses are not linked. Ended entries and tracked firms under an operational restriction have no website button. This table uses no referral links. A current register entry confirms an entity and service scope but does not guarantee investment safety. Crypto is high-risk. 18+.

How to check if an exchange is MiCA licensed

  1. Find the legal entity that serves you. The exchange’s terms of use name the contracting company; the brand name alone is not enough.
  2. Search that entity, its brand or its LEI in the register above. A current entry has no end date. Our list of MiCA-licensed crypto exchanges maps the best-known brands to their entities.
  3. Check the services column. The entry must cover what you use, for example custody (a) or exchange of crypto-assets for funds (c).
  4. Check where the entity may serve you: its home state, or a host state it notified under Article 65.
  5. Check the MiCA warning list of unauthorised firms, then confirm the entry with ESMA or the national regulator before you deposit funds.

The full guide on how to check a MiCA licence explains each result and the red flags.

Current entries by home state

Article 65 provides a notification route for authorised services in other EEA states. The home-state column shows where the legal entity is established and which authority handled its Article 60 notification or Article 63 authorisation, not every market where the entity operates. Use the “Available in” filter above to keep the entities whose home state or Article 65 host states include your country.

The CASP licence guide explains each service, authorisation and passporting. A company registered outside the EEA does not gain these rights automatically, and our SVG registration versus MiCA guide shows how to check the difference.

Source and method

Data comes from ESMA’s official interim MiCA register file (CASPS.csv ), which ESMA updates roughly weekly. The snapshot contains 370 source records grouped into 367 legal entities by legal-entity identifier (LEI). For a current entity, the displayed date and service scope come only from rows that remain current at the snapshot date, and ended-only records stay historical. An entity counts as current when at least one grouped row has no end date or ends after the snapshot. The method produces 365 current and 2 ended legal entities as of 6 October 2026. Always confirm a live entry in the ESMA register before acting. Developers can use the same snapshot through our open MiCA data API. Corrections are published in the changelog.

Common questions

How many CASPs are in the ESMA register?

As of 6 October 2026, the ESMA snapshot contains 365 legal entities with a current Article 60 notification or Article 63 authorisation across 27 EEA home states. A further 2 legal-entity entries had already ended and are shown separately as historical records.

Is this the official register?

No. ESMA publishes the official register, and this independent page presents a dated snapshot of it in a searchable table. Verify the live ESMA entry before you make a decision.

Why do I see legal entities instead of brand names?

The register lists legal entities. Kraken appears as Payward Europe Solutions, and Crypto.com appears as Foris DAX MT. We show a brand when ESMA supplies one or when an exact entity match links to our exchange directory.

What do the service letters mean?

Each register entry records specific crypto-asset services, lettered a–j. The first five are custody (a), operating a trading platform (b), exchange for fiat (c), exchange for other crypto (d) and execution (e). The remaining services are placing (f), order reception and transmission (g), advice (h), portfolio management (i) and transfers (j).
